Separation
The sky is just as pale as a late summer evening. And just as vengeful.
Every evening, every morning comes to haunt me with a vengeance.
Your absence looms larger than the night.
And burns brighter than any dawn.

Miles, digits, numbers. I wish I could overcome them all.
But, I can't. And so I allow the blade of your absence to slowly peel away the layers of my identity.

And flayed like this, I watch the aching red sinew twist and turn over the bare bones of memory.
Fragments of another life lived with you, curl on the floor in arbitrary piles, fresh from the skinning knife.
The blood of remembrance flows in waves stronger than tides drawn by any moon.
Raw pain, just as ripe as my tortured flesh, circles the room on the back of a silent scream.

Do you know what it is like to be separated from yourself?
